The Lafayette Airport Commission operates an airport system that provides domestic air service to the Southwest Louisiana region. The organization consists of seventeen full-time employees in a structure that includes central administration, airport management and operations. In addition to operating Lafayette Regional Airport, the Commission is also responsible for capital improvements.

Police and fire rescue services are provided through contracts with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff Office and Rural Metro Corporation (respectively).
