Lafayette Airport Passenger Numbers Continue to Set Records
The number of people flying Lafayette continues to set records. The
August enplanements, the number of people flying out of Lafayette
was 18,421 – the best August since Lafayette Regional Airport began
keeping records. The number of deplanements, the number of people
flying into Lafayette, was 19,113, also the best August on record.
Load factors, the percentage of filled seats, continued to be strong
with Continental Express leading the way with 74.9 percent; followed
by Atlantic Southeast, the Delta Connection with 70.7 percent;
American Eagle with 69 percent; and Northwest Airlink with 67.7
percent.
Enplaned cargo was 1,422,672 pounds, which is the fifth best month
on record and second best August. Deplaned cargo was 1,584,055
pounds, which is the fourth best month on record and the best August
on record.
“Having people use Lafayette to fly and ship from is good for the
airport and all of Acadiana. The flying public continues to
recognize the value of flying Lafayette,” noted Carroll Robichaux,
Lafayette Airport Commission chairman. “The money saved from parking
and gasoline, plus the cost of your time, continue to make Lafayette
a great place to fly from.”
In other airport news, Dynamic Aviation/Moreno Investments has
announced the completion of its private hangar, Million Air has
begun construction of its new terminal and the fire department has
taken delivery of its new state-of-the-art fire truck.
